As you know, the police had arrested Dr. Darshan Pal (Patiala), All India Convener of People Democratic Front of India (popularly known as PDFI) , when he was returning from the public meeting (March 23rd, 2010) that had been held in the memory of martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev at Samana (Distt. Patiala). A police party led by senior police officers of Patiala searched him house in the evening. They took some history and Marxist books from there.Any illegal didn’t find there. Next day he was produced in the court and sent to judicial custody under IPC section 107-151. It is surprising that a section of print media (especially Dainik Bhaskar) published a totally fabricated report of the arrest. In this report, Dr. Darshan Pal has been portrayed as maoist leader. This newspaper reported also that illegal Maoist literature were found from his residence. This press reporter’s story is so much ridiculous that he has been portrayed as a University professor. While, the fact is that he has served as a popular, pro-people government doctor by profession who took voluntary retirement to serve the people.
We think this is a well planned move to defame the popular leaders and gag the voice of democratic people. All the progressive and democratic people must take serious notice of this type of false reporting and condemn it.
